What is Call disposition?

A call disposition is the outcome recorded after a call — such as connected-interested, RNR, busy, switched off, wrong number, call back later or not interested — used to decide the next action and to measure how a calling team performs.

Also known as Call outcome, call status

A disposition list should be short and leave no doubt. A typical real estate list has three groups: not connected (RNR, busy, switched off, not reachable, wrong number), connected with a result (interested, visit booked, call back, already bought, budget mismatch, not interested) and administrative (duplicate, do not call). Each one should trigger something: RNR schedules a retry, visit booked creates the visit, do not call stops future calls.

Dispositions are what turn call volume into insight. If 40% of a campaign’s connected calls end in “budget mismatch” (illustrative figure), the ad is attracting the wrong buyers. If one agent marks far more “not interested” than colleagues on the same leads, it is a coaching conversation.

Example

Rules behind three dispositions (illustrative)

An Ahmedabad team sets: RNR → retry after 3 hours, at most 4 tries in 3 days; Call back → ask for a time and create a follow-up; Not interested → pick a reason (budget, location, already bought). After a month, “location” is the top reason for a Shela project, and the marketing team narrows the ad’s target area.

Figures are illustrative, not market rates.

Questions about Call disposition

What does RNR mean as a disposition?

RNR means “ringing, no response”: the phone rang but nobody answered. It is the most common outcome on cold and portal leads, so the retry rule behind it — when and how many times to try again — has a large effect on how many leads are eventually reached.

How many dispositions should we have?

Usually 8 to 15. Fewer than that hides useful reasons; many more and callers pick at random or always choose the first item. Review the list every few months and merge options that are rarely used or mean the same thing.
