Questions
When is the best time to ask for a referral?
Shortly after possession or move-in, while the experience is fresh and the client is happy. Asking before the deal is complete feels transactional; asking a year later depends on them still remembering your name.
Can I message the friend whose number the client sends?
Call or message once to introduce yourself and say who referred them, then ask whether they want to hear from you. Don’t add the number to marketing lists until that person agrees.
Tips
- Asking for referrals is promotion, so Meta treats this as Marketing even though it starts with a thank-you.
- Ask once; a repeat request a month later feels like a sales drip.
- Get the friend’s consent before you call them — tell the client you will message the friend first.
