Authentication format with expiry (WhatsApp)

Questions

Why must this be an authentication template?

It carries a one-time code. Meta’s authentication category exists for exactly this and uses a fixed format: the code, an optional security line and an optional expiry. Promotional text, links or images are not allowed, so keep project offers out of it.

What does the OTP prove?

That the buyer was physically with the agent when the code was entered, because the code reached the buyer’s phone. It settles “did this visit happen?” questions with channel partners and managers without relying on photos or attendance sheets.

  • The code proves the visit happened — useful for channel-partner claims.
  • Keep the text short and free of links.

The SMS version must match a template registered on DLT. Utility templates must relate to something the customer asked for.
